Ground Source Heat Pump
Power your business with heat from the ground
Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHP) take in energy from the ground outside and convert this into usable energy for hot water and heating. Similar to geothermal technology, the heat is extracted through pipes and temperature is raised further to provide a comfortable level of heat around your building. The underground pipes are fed into a heat pump fitted to the inside or outside of your property.
Although heat pumps require an electricity supply, they produce three times as much energy than conventional boilers. So, 3kWh of heat energy is produced for every kWh of electricity used, meaning a GSHP is much more energy efficient and cost effective.
Land requirements
Depending on the availability of land and access to the property, the pipes can be fitted either vertically or horizontally underground. Our engineers can advise you which installation is best suited to your property.

Offsetting the cost of a GSHP
There are many options to fund or offset the cost of heat pumps, one of the most popular choices is the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) which can provide new revenue streams for up to 20 years. The government tariff can generate payments depending on the amount of energy your system produces and how much you export back to the grid. For more options see our financial incentives page.
