Air Source Heat Pump
Cover your buildings heating requirements using the air outside
Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP) take in energy from the air outdoors and convert this into usable energy for hot water and heating. The heat energy is taken from air outside via collectors and transported to the heat pump, where the temperature is raised further to provide a comfortable level of heat around your building. ASHP's are installed externally and feed energy into an appliance which can be fitted either on an outside wall or inside the property. Although heat pumps require an electricity supply, they produce three times as much energy than conventional boilers, meaning they are much more energy efficient and cost effective.
Why choose ASHP?
- There is no planning permission required to install energy efficient heat pumps
- It can produce heat from the air even when temperatures are as low as -15° C
- They are quicker and easier to install than alternative ground source heat pumps
- Minimal maintenance is required once an ASHP is installed
Offsetting the cost of an ASHP
There are many options to fund or offset the cost of heat pumps, one of the most popular choices is the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) which can provide new revenue streams for up to 20 years. The government tariff can generate payments depending on the amount of energy your system produces and how much you export back to the grid. For more options see our financial incentives page.
